CPI-FUTE will hear ANJL and IBJR in public hearing next week

The CPI-FUTE, which investigates allegations of match-fixing in Brazilian football, will hear next Tuesday (8th) the presidents of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), Wesley Cardia, and of the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), Andre Gelfi. In yesterday's (2nd) public hearing, the collegiate heard Federal Police chief Fabrício Martins Rocha, who pointed out that the body will use investigative intelligence to contribute to the CPI.

In yet another meeting without major contributions to elucidate cases of manipulation of bets in football, the CPI-FUTE heard this Wednesday (2nd) afternoon the Federal Police (FP) chief Fabrício Martins Rocha. Many of the questions addressed to him focused on ways in which the FP can act and whether the practice is old.

Fabrício Rocha said that the Federal Police is based on complaints and that, given what has been happening, it is studying ways to act and contribute to combating the practice.

In addition, he informed that the body has approached Sportradar, through a letter of intent, to contribute to the identification and punishment of those responsible based on the reports prepared by the global company that works in raising suspicions.

Some deputies again complained to the rapporteur Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE) for not having listened to the sports betting houses that operate in Brazil. Carreras reinforced that they are not being armored and that the time to receive them will come soon. For the rapporteur, at this stage it is more important to identify and listen to the denounced.

In any case, the rapporteur informed that the Federal Police designated the delegate Sérgio Eduardo Busato to assist in the investigations of the CPI and that, “now begins the phase of looking, with police intelligence, in the summons and invitations so that we have betting companies present here, responding to CPI. Perhaps even with a breach of confidentiality so that we can expand the ongoing investigations,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, a public hearing was scheduled for next Tuesday (8th) to hear the presidents of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), Wesley Cardia, and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), Andre Gelfi.
