Councilors from Jaraguá do Sul appeal for regulation of bingo

The councilors of Jaraguá do Sul, in the state of Santa Catarina, call for the regulation of the bingo game performed by non-profit civil society organizations. The parliamentarians approved this Thursday (31) a motion in this sense. It was forwarded by Nina Santin Camello, Anderson Kassner, Jair Pedri, Luís Fernando Almeida, Osmair Luiz Gadotti and Sirley Maria Schappo.

The councilors of the city of Jaraguá do Sul, in Santa Catarina, are committed to the regulation of bingos to happen as soon as possible. In this Thursday's (31) session, they unanimously approved a request for the matter to be considered with the utmost urgency by the Senate.

The matter was addressed to the largest parliament in Brazil, where the bill that proposes the regulatory framework for gambling in Brazil is being processed.

Proponents of the motion emphasize the importance of debating the legalization of this type of activity in all its dimensions, given that, despite its ban throughout the national territory, its practice remains widespread and informal.

The motion also emphasizes the role of the bingo game as a way to raise funds for entities dedicated to the social good, especially those that serve the elderly. According to them, the game of bingo is a popular activity among the elderly population, providing not only entertainment, but also benefits for mental health, social interaction, self-confidence and motor coordination.

In addition, the game of bingo, according to the councilors, is seen as a stimulus for cognitive abilities. The motion was unanimously approved and sent to the Senate for notice of the appeal.
