The vote on the bill that regulates sports betting in Brazil should take place this week to clear the agenda, as it was presented on an urgent basis. The rapporteur of the text, deputy Adolfo Viana (PSDB-BA) has been discussing the project with party leaders and should include in his report the tax proposals, both for bettors and betting houses.
In conversations with parliamentarians, the deputy already admits to reviewing the taxation on operators, initially set at 18% on the GGR. Something between 12% and 14% is already agreed upon so that such a high charge of 18% does not keep companies away from the formal market.
The rapporteur's difficulty is the evangelical bench, which is against any type of gaming and is not willing to accept the reduction in taxation, as it is aware that the project will pass anyway.
Deputies aligned with the president of the Chamber Arthur Lira (PP-AL) are on standby following their leader, who intends for the project to also include online gaming.
Lira has already stated that this vertical represents a large part of the revenue of betting sites, and that if it is also included it will guarantee greater revenue from the government, even if taxation is reduced.
