For Loterj, bill approved by the Chamber values sports betting licenses from state lotteries

The president of the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery – Loterj, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, analyzed for Games Magazine Brasil the approval of the bill that regulates sports betting. For him, the high taxation and authorization for only three years of operation “favor state lotteries, especially the licenses granted by Loterj,” which is “the counterpoint to the Union, stimulating the formalization of the sector in Rio de Janeiro.”

The text approved last night (13) by the Chamber of Deputies, values the licenses of state lotteries, especially the licenses granted by Loterj.

The Bill that goes to the Federal Senate confirms what I have been defending: that the high taxation of sports betting and virtual casinos favors state lotteries.

Added to federal taxation of 18% of GGR plus taxes of 13 to 16%, betting houses will suffer a total tax of almost 32%, not including the grant payment of R$30 million for just three years of operation and the administration fee from the Ministry of Finance.

It is the highest taxation practiced in the world and outside the reality of best global practices, with the Ministry of Finance repeating the same mistakes as France and Portugal in regulating the sports betting and online gaming market.

Given this high federal taxation, approved yesterday by the Chamber of Deputies, the scenario becomes even more favorable for Loterj, which charges a Fixed Grant of R$5 million for 5 years of activity and only 5% of the GGR.

Loterj is the counterpoint to the Union, encouraging the formalization of the sector in Rio de Janeiro, combating tax evasion and offering a formal and regulated market to bettors.
