The mayor of Taubaté, José Saud (MDB), sanctioned the bill that creates the Taubateana Lottery, voted on in two sessions by the Plenary of the City Council.
The Bill was prepared by the Executive to “raise new resources for the coffers of the Municipality of Taubaté”, in the justification of the mayor of the city located in Vale do Paraíba, in the interior of São Paulo.
The publication took place this Monday (25), and from now on the City Hall will continue the process of defining the best operating model, to be handed over to the private sector, as has been happening in other cities throughout Brazil.
The mayor's intention is to increase revenue from public coffers without burdening the city's population. The resources will be allocated to projects linked to social security, social assistance, human rights, sport, culture, health and public safety, in addition to paying expenses for the maintenance and operation of the lottery.
“The ‘Loteria Taubateana’ will be administered by the Cabinet Secretariat and can be explored through public-private partnerships,” explained the mayor, who still does not have a revenue estimate or when the new lottery will come into operation.
The expectation is that the bidding will be underway within three months.
