The Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (Febralot) sent a letter to the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Rita Serrano, containing a collection of topics relevant to the lottery network, gathered by each state union to be discussed in a face-to-face meeting in Brasília.
The meeting with Rita Serrano took place this Tuesday (26), and among Febralot's demands, the following stand out:
In a preliminary meeting to prepare the agenda with Caixa executives, Febralot presented its concerns regarding the non-use of artists in the Mega da Virada 2024 campaign, which could reduce the interest of bettors. Furthermore, it presented as an important demand the reduction of fees on card transactions. Caixa Cartões agreed to reduce the debit rate from 1.17% to 0.98%, but not the credit rate.
Among the main demands, the network won the adjustment of the rate for the provision of non-gaming services in lottery outlets to 4.49%.
Furthermore, Febralot presented a request for lottery houses to sign an agreement with sports betting houses, which would publicize their games online and in other ways that would increase the sale of physical games, including the installation of betting totems in stores.
Jodismar Amaro, president of Febralot, addressed the financial imbalance of the network where 1/3 of the lottery network has poor or even non-existent results, especially in the north and northeast of Brazil, precisely where there is a shortage for the unbanked population.
He also highlighted that considering the competition in the new gaming market in Brazil, it is essential that the Lottery Retailers Network has dedicated IT. This is a very old demand from the Federation and it was pointed out that it is even more urgent considering the competition from the new lottery market in the country.
The president also asked Caixa to carry out campaigns along the lines of the São Paulo invoice, which rewards consumers in the State of São Paulo, to encourage the population to pay bills at the lottery network.
President Rita Serrano also spoke about the gaming market and spoke about it with great ease, demonstrating knowledge of the topic and that Caixa will take a position, obviously including sports betting houses.
The issue of the agreement with operators of sport betting had no definition from Caixa given the current situation the sector is going through, still in the regulatory process. The decision on a partnership with betting houses and the installation of totems in the lottery network was to be discussed in future meetings.
