In a meeting with approximately 200 representatives from 90 betting houses, Serpro, a federal agency specializing in data processing systems, presented the government-developed platform to integrate information processed by betting houses with the Ministry of Finance, which also participated in the meeting.
This gathering is part of a broader effort to ensure that betting companies operate within a clear regulatory framework, protect consumer interests, prevent harmful practices, and seek to establish an ethical and legal environment.
Participants are among the 134 companies that have expressed interest in obtaining a license from the Ministry of Finance. In the preliminary testing phase, Serpro will evaluate the flow of information, transmission speed, and assess whether any changes to the system are necessary.
While 90 companies have volunteered for testing so far, until January 19, other interested companies can register to log into the Serpro platform, which will commence testing on February 19.
During the meeting, both Serpro and the Ministry of Finance committed to keeping all data confidential, and after the conclusion of the tests, the data will be erased from the system.
The purpose of conducting tests before the system's operational launch is to provide future operators with detailed information on the technical requirements for sending information to the Ministry of Finance.
Through the tests, it will also be possible to evaluate whether the infrastructure developed by the Ministry and Serpro needs adjustment due to the high volume of data transfer.
During the testing period, betting houses are required to transmit data that will be kept confidential and represent a time frame with significant bets, such as the finals of major championships like Brasileirão and the Champions League.
The testing phase aims to prepare betting systems for necessary adaptations to obtain authorization, facilitating their effective entry into the Brazilian betting market. This approach ensures a smooth transition to full operation, reducing disruptions and ensuring compliance with regulations from the start.
In the meeting, Serpro clarified to participants that the tests do not imply technical approval by the Ministry of Finance. Companies will still need to present certificates from laboratories attesting to the required technical capabilities.
Deadlines:
01/19 – Submission of signed confidentiality agreement
01/26 – Technical meeting with test participants
02/19 – Start of connection tests
03/11 – Start of data volume tests
04/05 – Completion of tests and deletion of received data
