PagSeguro targets the iGaming sector with new features and presence at ICE London

Moving $21 billion in 2023 and projected to surpass $50 billion in 2026, the iGaming sector is currently the major driving force in Latin American e-commerce. Keeping a close eye on this trend, PagSeguro - the international division of PagBank - increasingly targets the sector and will be present at ICE London, where it will showcase new features tailored for foreign companies looking to operate in Brazil. The team will be led by the Global Business Director, Renato Lahud.

New Strategies Based on Two Decades in the Market

With nearly 20 years of experience in the cross-border payment market, PagSeguro has quickly established itself as one of the leading providers of local payment solutions for iGaming companies.

According to Renato Lahud, the global business director of PagSeguro, "this makes the new focus on gambling a natural path for the business – games and betting share many characteristics, such as a high need for robust anti-fraud processes, agile payments, and a strong focus on mobile consumption."

To enhance this expertise, PagSeguro has also been investing in new features tailored to the specificities of the iGaming  market. Recently, the company introduced the processing of higher-value transactions, allowing businesses transacting in Brazil to increase their processing limits by submitting the documents of their end users – maintaining processing compliance and enabling VIP users to place higher bets or make larger purchases.

Another tactic employed by PagSeguro, demonstrating excellent alignment with the strategies of the iGaming segment, is the creation of joint media campaigns with PagBank, within the digital bank's app – which, with over 30 million customers, is the second-largest in the country – and with UOL, the leading internet company in Brazil. This brings a vast base of potential new users to the companies in its portfolio, helping gambling businesses stand out in an already highly competitive landscape.

Presence at major iGaming events

Kicking off the event calendar for 2024, PagSeguro will be present at ICE London, one of the main events in the iGaming segment taking place from February 6 to 8 in the English capital. The delegation for the event includes some of the key executives from the team – Managing Director Caio Costa, Head of Sales America and EMEA Clarena Furtado, Head of Sales EMEA Gary Clarke, and Lahud himself – demonstrating the importance of the segment to PagSeguro's strategy.

In Lahud's view, events like ICE "are an excellent opportunity to connect with industry players and highlight the strength of the Latin American market – especially Brazil – for the iGaming segment and how we can help these businesses achieve excellent results here."

After all, as he points out, "for a foreign company to reach the market of another country, the expertise of a local partner who understands the habits and preferences of the national audience and the peculiarities of the market – and, specifically in the case of gambling, the numerous regulatory changes that have been occurring – is fundamental."
