Games Magazine Brasil will moderate a panel on iGaming regulation at ICE VOX

With less than a month until the start of ICE London, all eyes are on Brazil. To provide delegates with the latest information on iGaming regulation in the country, the special panel 'Order and Progress' will dissect the topic. Gildo Mazza, editor of Games Magazine Brasil, will moderate the panel, featuring the participation of lawyer Roberto Brasil Fernandes, José Francisco Manssur (Ministry of Finance), Ronan Moreira (Loteria Mineira), and Ari Celia (Pay4Fun).

On February 6th, starting at 10:05 AM (London time), the panel "Order and Progress? Analyzing the New Regulatory Environment for Gaming in Brazil" will take place during ICE VOX. The goal is to provide attendees with the latest updates on the now regulated Brazilian market for sports betting and online gaming.

The panel will be moderated by Gildo Mazza, editor of Games Magazine Brasil and a journalist with nearly 30 years of experience in the gaming and iGaming industry. The panelists include lawyer Roberto Brasil Fernandes, José Francisco Manssur, special advisor at the Ministry of Finance and responsible for the regulation process of sports betting and online gaming, Ronan Moreira, president of Loteria Mineira, and Ari Célia, co-founder and advisor of Pay4Fun.

After years of delay, sports betting is now legal in Brazil, following the sanctioning of Law 14,790 by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, regulating sports betting and online gaming in the country.

With 214 million inhabitants and 42.5 million engaged players, Brazil is one of the largest markets globally. However, operators now face various challenges such as taxation, bonus restrictions, limited payment methods, taxation on bettors, and strict advertising rules.

What does this mean for local and international operators looking to enter the largest new market on the continent? This is what the panel of experts aims to reveal at ICE VOX.

Proposed topics include:

  •  Unraveling complexities: The eligibility and registration process for gambling licenses in Brazil.
  •  Fees, taxation, and regulatory norms for operators: Will high tax rates and a license fee of R$30 million discourage international operators?
  •  Seeking lower costs: Legal loopholes that allow companies to operate at the state level but accept customers from all over Brazil.
