It is not uncommon to open the news and come across information about players who have been banned from sports for accepting match-fixing for their own benefit. However, what gained prominence this week was the action of a goalkeeper in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, who reported an attempted match-fixing.
In the face of this reality, Lottopar has consistently taken practical measures to ensure the integrity of all those involved in sports. To achieve this, the organization conducted the Responsible and Safe Gaming workshop.
In this workshop, Felippe Marchetti, a representative of Sportradar, a leading multinational in data collection technologies and sports analytics, provided participants with a lecture that addressed key topics related to prevention, detection, and combating match-fixing.
At the event, which aimed to raise awareness among all those involved in sports, the regulatory body also provided participants with a Guide on Responsible and Safe Gaming, produced by the institution itself, to draw attention to appropriate conduct related to sports.
To receive reports of possible attempts at match-fixing, Lottopar also has an Ombudsman Channel available on its website, which can be used for reporting cases of player recruitment for illegal activities in sports.
In addition, the institution has been making progress on all fronts to ensure that the bettor in the state has a safe betting environment. To achieve this, it has formed partnerships with other entities, such as the State Public Security Secretariat of Paraná and the Sports Secretariat, to confirm its commitment to promoting joint actions aimed at combating illegal gambling.
For sports law expert and collaborator with the operations director of Lottopar, Pablo Wosniacki, "it is extremely important that all players have knowledge of best practices to ensure safe gaming. Thus, as in the case that occurred in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, the athlete's action confirms that education on the subject is essential for sporting integrity and unpredictability of results, fundamental principles in sports."
The operational director of Lottopar, Fabio Veiga, emphasizes that the regulatory body has been working firmly on the proposal to create an environment where security, transparency, and responsibility are priorities. With this goal and considering the start of football championships, new movements are planned to maintain excellence in the betting market. Associations, accreditations, cooperation agreements, and strong oversight are topics that are already part of the measures adopted by Lottopar, but many more actions are coming, assures the Paranaense company.
