With impressive speed and capillarity, Raspadinha® can now be found in approximately 1,000 points of sale, located in almost 100 cities in Minas Gerais. In addition to the capital Belo Horizonte and the metropolitan region, the games are present in important municipalities such as Sete Lagoas, Varginha, Lagoa Santa, Lavras, Ipatinga, Itaúna, Governador Valadares and Montes Claros.
The proven success of the product in the state is due to a set of interconnected factors. Raspadinha® is, statistically, more attractive to the end consumer than other traditional games, such as lotteries and savings bonds.
In addition to the wide range of games, for every four tickets printed, one is a winner and prices can reach up to R$ 250,000 (US$ 51,100). Only the initial distribution batch of the new instant lottery is expected to deliver R$132 million (US$ 27m) to players.
Waliston André Ferreira, resident of the Mantiqueira neighborhood, in Venda Nova, was the first lucky person to win the prize worth R$ 1,000 (US$ 205). “I bought the ticket at a friend's grocery store in the neighborhood, but I didn't really expect to win. I had already been awarded R$ 10, 20 and 100, but one fine day I was awarded R$ 1,000. I didn’t even believe I would receive the money so quickly, but the Raspadinha® team got in touch and within two business days I received the prize,” he says.
The new Raspadinha® is a 100% legal game and has funds allocated to social causes in the state of Minas Gerais.
The CMSL (Consórcio Mineira da Sorte Loteria), a group formed by the international companies IGT, Scientific Games and the Brazilian SAGA BGI, was the winner of International Public Competition nº 001/2023 and is responsible for officially operating the Instant Lottery games (Raspadinha®) and Conventional Lotteries, from the Minas Gerais State Lottery (LEMG), since October 2023.
With the main proposal of generating resources and allocating them to the promotion of social well-being, the Loteria do Estado de Minas Gerais (LEMG), through an alliance with the CMSL, offers a wide and varied gaming possibility to bettors from Minas Gerais, with tickets priced at R$2, R$5 or R$10.
Raspadinha®, in addition to millions in prizes, generates revenue and profit for the reseller, and also contributes to social and public safety causes defined by the State Public Authorities. Of total net revenue, 21% must go to the government. The expected revenue is R$ 5 billion (US$ 1.02bn), with a minimum transfer of R$ 500 million (US$ 102m), during the 20 years of concession, agreed in the contract.
In these first four games alone, the Consortium will transfer more than R$ 16 million (US$ 3.3m) to LEMG, which will be allocated to social projects in education, health and public safety in Minas Gerais.
