Superbet shakes up Brazilian football with a R$ 156 million master sponsorship for São Paulo

São Paulo begins the year with a surprise for its fans: Superbet is the new main sponsor of the club, in an agreement that will last for three seasons. The European betting brand, aiming to make a strong entry into Brazil, will pay R$ 52 million per season, totaling R$ 156 million, and will take care of the R$ 24 million fine for the termination of the contract with Sportsbet.io.

The brand had been speculated to take over the club's uniform since last month. However, there was an obstacle to the announcement: the payment of a R$ 24 million fine for the termination of the contract with Sportsbet.io, which was supposed to last until the end of 2024.

This amount, however, will be part of the R$ 180 million, as the new sponsor will assume the fine. Therefore, the contract will be R$ 52 million per season, totaling R$ 156 million.

On his Instagram, São Paulo's president, Julio Casares, gave a "spoiler." He posted that he expected a SUPER 2024, with a sequel to 2023. Naturally, the post alludes to both the new main sponsor and the naming rights deal the club closed at the end of the year.

The strong financial backing of the betting company, which has technological centers in Zagreb, London, and Bucharest, is due to the financial fund behind it. In this way, it aims to invest heavily in Brazilian football to gain recognition in a highly competitive market.

Additionally, the new general director of the company in Brazil, Alex Fonseca, was responsible for the entry and expansion of Betano in the country. Superbet's Appearance in Brazil vs. Argentina Founded in 2008 and of Romanian origin, Superbet is already present in Brazilian soil.

In the match between Brazil and Argentina, a clash valid for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on November 21, the company featured on advertising boards on the Maracanã pitch and on a sort of carpet placed in the center of the field.

São Paulo Starts the 2024 Season Commercially Strengthened

With Superbet as its new main sponsor, São Paulo announces another update to its uniform in a short period. 

Recently, the club officially confirmed the arrival of New Balance as the supplier of sports equipment. São Paulo also closed a three-year naming rights deal with Mondelez for the Morumbi stadium.

The deal stipulates that the stadium will be called "Morumbis" because the chocolate Bis is part of the American group's portfolio.
