Through his YouTube channel, Lessa reported that Fluminense has been in talks and negotiations in recent days with a potential new sponsor for the main space on the ‘tricolor’ jersey, currently occupied by the betting company Betano. Through intermediaries, some companies in the same sector, such as Pixbet and Superbet, have already approached with possible proposals that could be much higher than what Fluminense currently receives, potentially reaching three or four times more.
However, all negotiations will be conducted with respect to the current contract with Betano, which expires in 2025. The company has the opportunity to match any proposal that comes to the club.
The current payment amounts from Betano to Fluminense have not been disclosed. The initial agreement was for R$ 15 million (US$ 3.03m) but was adjusted at the time of renewal in July 2022.
To demand this improvement in the sponsorship price of its jersey, the club's executives take into account that it is the current champion of the Copa Libertadores of America, granting Flu the right to participate in other international cups and finals, thus providing the sponsor with greater visibility of their brand throughout the region and globally.
Furthermore, the spectacular agreements signed in recent weeks by other clubs with betting companies, such as São Paulo and Superbet -R$ 52m (US$ 10.5m) for year- and Pixbet with Flamengo -R$ 85 (US$ 17.2m) for year-, among others, also have a significant influence.
