"Considering not only the importance of regulating the betting sector in Brazil but also the dissemination of ethical and responsible advertising for the safety of bettors, the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gambling (IBJR) launched its own self-regulation advertising code in May of last year. The text contains good communication and advertising practices based on the experience of IBJR associates abroad and has become a reference for all institute members and associates.
The pioneering creation and adoption of its own code on the subject led to productive discussions with the National Council for Self-Regulation in Advertising (Conar), culminating in the signing of an agreement so that IBJR could collaborate on the final text that would regulate the activity, officially published in December 2023.
Over the past months, under the experienced guidance of Conar, we have participated in the working group that discussed best practices and strategies for creating a code that establishes clear rules for all betting operators, always aiming for the safety, information, and clarity of messages to Brazilian consumers.
With the certainty that a regulated betting market with duly regulated activities and communications is the best choice for Brazilian bettors, IBJR congratulates the publication of Annex X by Conar, which will now guide advertising in the betting sector responsibly, ethically, and safely for the public."
