The UOL 2023 Survey anonymously interviewed 43 football players who participated in the Brazilian Championship. The results showed that more than 60% of the respondents trust that their teammates do not engage in sports betting schemes.

Additionally, over 97% of the players who responded to the 2023 Survey claim they have never participated in this sports betting activity.

The habit of betting on games of various sports has become increasingly common in Brazil, especially with the introduction of sports betting, particularly in the sponsorship of national football.

The Maximum Penalty operation, launched by the Public Prosecutor's Office in 2023, uncovered irregularities and the involvement of dozens of players in sports betting schemes.

On this occasion, there were several sanctions imposed on those involved, including long suspensions, fines, and even the total ban from the sport. Investigations are expected to continue in 2024.

The UOL 2023 Survey, conducted anonymously with players from the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship, had its responses disclosed on December 8 last year.
