Luís Filipe Madeira Caeiro Figo was born on the 4th of November, 1972, in Almada, and soon realized that he could be a world football star, as he later became. A member of the Portuguese National Team's incredible “Golden Generation”, he won the U-20 World Cup in 1991. He trained at Sporting Clube de Portugal, then went on to play for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
He won numerous individual and team trophies, including the Champions League, the European Super Cup, LaLiga, the Italian Serie A and a Portuguese Cup. In 2000, he was awarded the Ballon D'Or trophy and was named the best footballer to play in Europe. A year later, FIFA voted him the best player in the world. He made 127 appearances for Seleção A and scored 32 goals.
