“GiG wants to be close to Brazilian operators and considers to open an office in the country”

Luis de Prat, GiG’s business development director, received GMB during recent SBC Summit in Lisbon, in a conversation where he highlighted the open CoreX platform based on microservices “that guarantees a lot of reliability to operators.” According to him, Brazil will be one of the most important regulated markets in the world and the company is already considering opening an office in the country “to be closer to our customers.”

GMB – What are the latest updates from GiG at the Lisbon Fair?
Luis de Prat
– The most important thing we are presenting is CoreX, our user account management and content supply platform for gaming operators.

Is it an open platform? Does that make it easier to integrate with operators' processes and to meet requirements, certifications, and everything else?
Exactly. It’s an open-source platform, which makes it much easier to integrate content providers, and its architecture is based on microservices. So, in case of any issue with an integration, it does not affect the entire system, which guarantees a high level of reliability for operators.

Is the goal to offer stability and reliability?
That’s exactly right. We have high-volume clients who need reliability when there are many transactions, so the platform needs to be robust and problem-free.

How is the certification process for this new platform in Brazil?
We are approaching the regulatory bodies for that. We are in conversations with several clients who are applying for licenses, and for them, certifying the platform as it is done in regulated markets will be important in this jurisdiction. In this case, it will be the Brazilian market.

How do you foresee the future Brazilian market starting from January 2025?
That’s a good question. I think we’ve all been asking ourselves that since 2006. The new law passed last year, which will come into effect in 2025, is a very positive step. We are predicting that, as experts in regulated markets, it will become one of the most important in the world.

Have the operators who have presented themselves to the Ministry of Finance already started approaching GiG for this?
We are in talks with several of them, some even in almost public discussions, and we are involved in various supplier selection processes.

So, do you see an open sky in 2025?
I believe so. Specializing in regulated markets now is very positive for a jurisdiction like Brazil, which is looking for regulation.

Are you planning to open an office in Brazil?
Yes, of course. As the market advances and develops, we will need to be closer to our clients and serve them more directly.
