According to the president of Anatel, although the Brazilian State, through the Ministry of Finance and Anatel itself, takes measures to prevent the operation of irregular ‘Bets’, the real power lies in the hands of the consumer.
“If the bettor avoids participating in these irregular ‘bets’, that is the best way to put an end to them — without bettors, they cease to exist,” stated Baigorri.
How to identify regular betting houses
Baigorri advised bettors to consult the list provided by the Ministry of Finance to verify the regularity of betting houses.
He stressed the importance of using only regulated platforms, warning that betting on irregular sites leaves the consumer “at his own risk”, without the protection of Brazilian laws.
“If a citizen makes a bet on an irregular ‘bet’ and has a problem, he is at his own risk, because he is going to the irregular market to hire a service that will not have any protection from the State,” explained the president of Anatel.
According to Baigorri, the use of regular betting houses guarantees the bettor protection in matters of mental and financial health and ensures a controlled environment where the rules are followed.
He emphasized that all the benefits provided for in the legislation are only guaranteed when bets are made on platforms that observe and comply with Brazilian law.
