In partnership with Brasileirão Betano and the Cabelegria NGO, which aims to restore the self-esteem of women undergoing breast cancer treatment, Betano will provide a truck to receive hair donations and distribute wigs. Health professionals will also share information to raise awareness about the importance of preventing the disease.
The activities will take place at Esplanada da Arena MRV on October 26, before the match between Atlético and Internacional. At the same location, women will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of breast cancer prevention, self-awareness, and self-care, with guidance on how to perform self-examinations using a breast prototype.
Two hours before the start of the Brasileirão Betano match, starting at 5:00 PM, fans passing through the esplanade will find the NGO’s truck, showcasing wigs made from natural hair donated to the organization. Women undergoing cancer treatment who register in advance via email at [email protected] by 12:00 PM on October 25 will be able to try on the wigs and collect them for free at the event.
Fans who wish to donate their hair should bring it already cut. The hair can contain chemical treatments but must be longer than 15 cm. It is important for donors to wash their hair and let it dry naturally, then tie it into a ponytail with an elastic band, cut it, and place the hair in a plastic bag. Once this is done, it’s ready to be donated!
Following this event, the truck will visit three more locations in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo on the following dates and locations:
- October 29: Hospital das Clínicas UFMG;
- October 30: Hospital Américas, Rio de Janeiro;
- October 31: Hospital Santa Marcelina, São Paulo.
In 2024, Cabelegria celebrates 10 years of activity and launched the campaign “Outubro 10x Pinker,” aimed at raising funds to produce 5,000 wigs. Betano will participate in the campaign by donating resources for the production of 1,000 units.
