The initiative, which lasted for three days, addressed different regulatory aspects for meeting the requirements of responsible gaming, affiliation, payments, and other legal and commercial aspects necessary to strengthen the company’s operations in the regulated Brazilian market.
On the first day, the workshop focused on measures related to marketing, advertising, and the promotion of responsible gaming. The newly created Integrity Committee of Eightroom Vpag aimed to list, exemplify, and establish flows and processes for proper alignment with the guidelines of Annex X of Conar and the responsible gaming policies of Ordinance 1,231 from the Secretary of Prizes and Betting (SPA), thus reinforcing its commitment to ethics and integrity in the advertising of operators in the national territory.
Júlia Alves, the group’s compliance officer, summarized the initiative by saying: "The workshop was important to align our team on the new guidelines for the advertising of betting houses. Besides being a forum for discussion, clarification, and exposure to the changes we're undergoing in this industry, it was an opportunity to reaffirm our company’s commitment to ethics and integrity to all our employees.”
With a focus on consolidation in the financial market, the workshops also addressed the fundamental role of Vpag and Pay in the group’s expansion strategies.
In August 2024, Pay, a member of the Eightroom Group, obtained a license from the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), becoming a Payment Institution (IP). This milestone consolidated its position in the financial market and the iGaming sector, ensuring that its operations are fully compliant with the country’s regulatory requirements.
As a result, the next two days of the workshop were dedicated to the financial market, with industry specialists offering an in-depth view of best practices and the interconnectedness of the Brazilian payment arrangement system.
For this purpose, The Sharp Fintech Consulting, through the specialists Luciano Fantin, Aciane Marino, and Manoel Jordão, conducted training that has helped Eightroom Vpag navigate the highly regulated environment of the Central Bank of Brazil without setbacks.
Employees were trained on the functioning of the financial system and risk management mechanisms, which are essential to ensuring the sustainability of the group’s operations. The inclusion of Vpag and Pay as new products in Eightroom's range of solutions was highlighted as a strategic step. This move involves the same level of diligence required of traditional banking institutions, reinforcing the importance of robust and compliant financial management.
On the third and final day, the focus was on compliance, a critical topic for both the payments sector and the iGaming industry. The main challenges faced by the industry and the necessary measures to ensure customer security and compliance with current regulations were discussed.
Case studies were analyzed to reinforce the need for constant adaptation to market changes, with the goal of ensuring excellence in all the company's operations.
Regarding these days focused on the financial market and compliance, Pay's commercial director, Bernardo Bicarano, said: "We brought together employees from across the group to prepare for what lies ahead, considering the scenario in which we operate under Bacen’s umbrella. This moment is crucial, as it serves as learning and alignment between teams and the main discussion on what we want to achieve in the future and how we aim to structure our team according to the group’s aspirations.”
In addition to the training, the group is also preparing to participate in SBC Miami 2024, which will take place next week (October 29 to 31). The event is recognized as an important platform for networking and business expansion in the iGaming sector.
