Another 1,443 online betting sites that did not request to start operating within the required deadline - which was September 17 - will be blocked. The list was sent by the Prizes and Betting Department of the Ministry of Finance to Anatel.
After sending the list, Anatel will notify approximately 21,000 telecommunications companies throughout the country (including operators and internet providers). Therefore, the total blocking of the sites will take a few days.
This is the second negative list sent to the regulatory agency. The first, with 2,027 sites, was sent on October 11. So far, neither the Treasury nor Anatel have published the detailed list on their websites.
On October 1st, the Ministry of Finance published the list of companies authorized to operate in the country. According to the most recent update, from the 18th, there are 219 ‘Bets’ from 100 companies on the national list and 26 companies in the following states: five in Paraná, four in Maranhão, one in Minas Gerais, eight in Rio de Janeiro and eight in Paraíba.
The negative list of betting companies prohibited from operating takes longer to be drawn up. According to the Ministry of Finance, the delay is necessary because the department needs to provide legal grounds for refusing authorizations.
Since it began operating, the Prizes and Betting Department has issued ordinances with the rules for the regulated market and for operations during the transition period, also created by law.
As of January 1, only companies that have obtained authorization to operate will be able to operate. The requests are being analyzed, and the list of companies with definitive authorization will be released at the end of December.
