“SGA renewed its platform in line with Brazilian regulations, now also targets the foreign market”

SGA, a major Brazilian developer of iGaming platforms, has just commercially launched its new version, Orion, which is fully compliant with Brazilian regulations. In an exclusive interview with GMB, the company’s sales director Raphael Oliveira Souza states that once this stage is over, it will work to expand its borders. “With regulatory support in our favor, we will establish ourselves in other countries in 2025,” he guarantees.

GMB – SGA has just launched the new version of its platform, Orion. What benefits does it bring to operators?
Raphael Oliveira Souza – The main advantage of the new product, Orion, focuses on user experience. We are offering a much richer and more up-to-date portfolio, especially in the sportsbook segment, with everything that major operations provide today both in Brazil and globally for their players. This includes more markets and player mentoring options. In the same environment, not just in the casino portfolio, it will complement and enhance the player’s journey. This will ensure and complete the user experience, providing an optimized experience.

Orion was scheduled to launch at the beginning of the second half of the year. Was the delay due to improvements to better meet Brazilian regulations?
To some extent, yes. We are heavily focused in this second half on the regulation process in the country, adjusting our product to be as well-suited as possible and creating a highly welcoming structure for those who need to set up operations with the backing not only of the product but also of all compliance requirements related to the new scenario starting in 2025.

Naturally, we had to make some adjustments to ensure our product fully complies with all the demands and requirements of the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets and the state institutions that will enable operations.

And what about SGA's certifications. Has everything been approved by the laboratory?
We are in the final stages of completion, pending license approval. However, the process is progressing well, and we are mindful of that, as we were with our previous product. Today, within this new market and under new requirements, we are working with the most relevant international laboratory, GLI.

We have been fine-tuning every aspect to offer, in the end, full support not only for the product and user experience but especially regarding compliance, player protection, responsible gaming, and everything that regulation demands from us.

What does SGA expect for 2025 with the new regulated market?
2025 will be a year of significant transformation for Brazil in our business niche. We have waited a long time for this. It will be much fairer for players, for companies investing in this segment, and for the entire involved chain, including suppliers, the iGaming industry, and all related sectors.

From now on, there will be a much higher level of professionalism, better positioned to offer the best that sports betting and iGaming can deliver, at a global standard that is now coming to Brazil within a much more controlled environment where players feel safer and more comfortable to have fun.

This will attract more investment and open everyone's eyes to this market, which for a long time faced certain prejudices. Today, everything is well-established not only for those working in the industry but especially for our most important asset, the end customer.

With all this pre-regulation experience and the platform's improvements, does this enable SGA to pursue new markets in Latin America?
Absolutely, this is a step we have been working on in parallel. Currently, national regulation took more time to be formulated compared to some other international markets, which gave us the advantage of being able to absorb some of the key positive aspects of each of these regulations.

And, of course, with these adjustments in place, we are prepared to meet the requirements of other countries. Starting in 2025, we will have regulatory backing on our side, both in Brazil, aligned with international industry standards, and ready to receive investments, establish operations, and form partnerships in many of the countries we are targeting to establish a presence and gain market share.
