Since the beginning of October, the Senate has been managing the agenda for the installation of the CPI, requested by Soraya Thronicke to investigate the activities of betting sites, the impact of the activity on the income of Brazilians and possible involvement of the entity with criminal organizations.
Finally, this Tuesday (12), the Commission was installed, with the appointment of Senator Dr. Hiran as its president. He will have Alessandro Vieira at his side, as vice-president, and Soraya Thronicke chosen as rapporteur.
The CPI will have 130 days to complete its report. To this end, it will have to monitor statements from influencers, betting houses, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Secretary of Prizes and Bets (SPA), associations and other entities to be summoned during the work.
One of the topics included in the request that gave rise to the request for the installation of the CPI is the investigation of "possible association with criminal organizations involved in money laundering practices, as well as the use of digital influencers in the promotion and dissemination of these activities."
The installation of the CPI had been announced for October 25, after the request was read in the Plenary by the President of the House, Rodrigo Pacheco. It was postponed until now due to the Dean of the Senate, Otto Alencar, who is responsible for the installation of a CPI.

Undisclosed work plan
In addition to the installation of the CPI, a work plan was approved that will guide the Commission, although it was not read by the rapporteur.
The senator only stated that the plan intends to investigate the "accountability of influencers, analyze organized crime and currency evasion, in addition to the conduct of betting sites."
Without knowing the dynamics of the sector and the way sports betting and online gaming companies operate, the senator went so far as to state, regarding the conduct of the sites, that "they are manipulated so that the person starts winning and, after becoming addicted and totally in debt, starts losing."
