“ICE Barcelona will be Brazil’s stage with a program aimed at this new regulated market”

With just under three months to go until its debut in Barcelona, ??ICE, the most important iGaming event on the planet, will have as one of its main focuses the new regulated market in Brazil. In an exclusive interview with GMB, Liliana Costa, LatAm Director of Clarion Gaming, states that there will be three days of discussions on technologies, opportunities and networking between players, operators, regulators and others interested in this opportunity that is opening up.

GMB – We are a little less than 3 months away from ICE Barcelona. What can we expect from one of the most anticipated events in the global iGaming industry?
Liliana Costa
– Everyone can expect a lot of news. It will be the world's largest gaming technology event, taking place in Barcelona from January 20 to 22. We anticipate around 55,000 visitors across ICE and iGB Affiliate, including 14,000 operators, regulators, and all major industry players.

This year, we will have several innovations and technologies, with a significant focus on Latin America. The content remains strong, featuring the World Regulatory Briefing, our global conference addressing challenges and the future of the gaming industry across all verticals. We will have lawmakers and regulators from around the world.

The fair has grown by about 23%, occupying five halls at Fira Gran Via, which will allow for continuous growth in the coming years. We will see updates for both the Spanish and Latin American markets, particularly Brazil.

It is worth noting that the event coincides with the opening of the Brazilian market, attracting significant interest from the international community eager to explore the opportunities and meet representatives from Brazil.

How was the transition process from London to Barcelona?
It was a long but positive process. This change has allowed us to include jurisdictions that were less represented at ICE, such as Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Chile, in addition to expanding markets in Asia and Africa. We are very excited, as the event is taking shape, and we believe it will be one of the best-organized events by the Clarion team to date.

You mentioned the coincidence of the event with the opening of the Brazilian market. What can we expect for Brazil?
It was a big challenge. For the Brazilian market, which is in the process of regulation, we have prepared a specific program. There are many aspects to consider, such as compliance, regulation, security, and biometrics. In fact, Brazil is a pioneer in this regard, as it will be the first country to adopt biometric recognition. All of this will be well represented not only at the fair, with various exhibitors, but also through a three-day program focused on Latin America and Brazil to facilitate the connection between the international community and the region.

The World Regulatory Briefing will kick off on Monday, January 20, with an opening address by former Mexican President Vicente Fox. He will discuss the potential and growth of Latin America, which is transitioning from an emerging market to an established one. On the same day, we will have strong networking focused on Latin America, which you know well and is one of the best networking platforms at ICE.

On Tuesday (21st), there will be a seminar on the Brazilian market on the main stage of the fair. In the afternoon, we will have sessions focused on Latin America.

On Wednesday, we will address responsible gambling in the region, with specialists and operators who have recently obtained licenses or are in the process of regulation. Additionally, there will be a stage dedicated to emerging markets, where we will highlight opportunities in Latin America and Brazil.

The entire program was designed to facilitate connections, with technologies and innovations for the region’s audience. There will be networking opportunities to meet partners and operators present at ICE. We have prepared surprises to facilitate these connections and promote responsible gambling in Brazil and Latin America.

Does Brazil generate worldwide interest and envy due to its size and crucial regulatory moment?
Without a doubt. Brazil has been a prominent focus at ICE for several years, and this is a decisive moment. In every conversation I have, the question is always about how to learn more about the Brazilian market, find the ideal partner, and how ICE can assist. We have created a program focused on Brazil to support this demand.

So, for anyone interested in the Brazilian iGaming market, is ICE Barcelona the place to be in January?
Absolutely. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
