During the interview, Regis Dudena also stated that the possible prohibition of the use of Pix in installments for the payment of bets will be evaluated after the start of the regulated market, with the data that the ministry will have in hand. According to the rules released in April, payments can only be made by Pix, transfer and debit.
Another important point, Dudena says, is the decision by Minister Luiz Fux, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to have preserved the current legislation and maintained legal certainty for companies.
When ruling on the precautionary measure in the action filed by the National Confederation of Commerce (CNC), the minister ordered the adoption of immediate measures that prohibit bets with ‘Bolsa Família’ funds, but did not suspend the rule. The decision was ratified by the STF.
Finally, the secretary highlighted that the regulated betting market will require responsibility from the Central Bank and health sectors, in relation to betting addiction, and stated that the draft of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) is welcome, which seeks to expand its regulatory power to include companies that offer digital infrastructure services.
