GMB – What was Legitimuz's objective in participating in the recent SBC Summit Latin America?
Kayky Janiszewski – Legitimuz is positioning itself as a regulatory compliance company for betting, currently 100% focused on Brazil but with plans for global expansion in the future. We offer services such as user identification, ensure geolocation legitimacy (checking proxies, VPNs, and inconsistencies in bets placed at different times), and even monitor financial transactions—something highly relevant to Brazilian regulation. Additionally, we ensure responsible gambling practices.
The global market is more mature than the Brazilian market, which is still undergoing regulatory processes. We attended the SBC Summit Latin America to learn about global best practices and replicate those experiences in Brazil.
Legitimuz is becoming increasingly aligned with regulatory requirements. Regarding the fight against financial fraud, how is the company positioned in this aspect?
We identify ourselves as a regulatory compliance company. Some regulations, such as Ordinance 1143, require user identification, geolocation monitoring, financial transaction integrity, and the promotion of responsible gambling. For example, we identify signs of money laundering, such as full deposits and withdrawals without betting, transfers between different banks, or resistance to submitting documents.
Each situation increases the risk score, categorized into green, yellow, orange, and red levels. Based on this, we notify the anti-money laundering team and generate reports for submission to Coaf. We also analyze the user's presumed income to provide alerts on addiction risks.
From the bettor's perspective, is this process quick?
Yes, it is fast and avoids false positives. Many compliance companies struggle with this because they are often designed for banking rather than betting. Legitimuz understands the bettor’s reality and adjusts processes to prevent unfair blocks or excessive document requests, ensuring a smooth experience.
Is this understanding of the bettor what drives Legitimuz's growth?
Exactly. We focus on understanding the bettor's life, their internet access, documentation, and Brazilian regulations. This allows us to satisfy both the bettors and the operators, who are our direct clients.
What are Legitimuz's plans for 2025?
Our goal is to strengthen relationships with operators to deliver the best experience for their bettors and work closely with the Betting Management System (Sigap), providing services fully aligned with regulations.
Global players are entering Brazil. How is Legitimuz approaching these companies, which often already work with partners similar to Legitimuz?
Many global companies face challenges when operating in new regulated jurisdictions like Brazil. Some providers lack the flexibility to address Brazilian specifics, such as the widespread use of digital transit wallets used by millions of Brazilians. Legitimuz excels in this local adaptability, setting us apart. These companies will need to go through a learning curve to understand the differences between operating in Brazil with a local provider versus an international one.
