IBJR asks the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting for more time to certify games in Brazil

The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) filed a letter with the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) asking to extend the deadline for uploading the documents required for the game certification pilot until December 30. The entity points out that “technical and operational challenges faced by regulated operators have made it difficult to comply with the deadlines initially established.”

In the letter, the IBJR states:

“We understand the importance of regulation and are committed to ensuring that the certification process is carried out efficiently and in accordance with the highest standards of responsibility and security. However, technical and operational challenges faced by regulated operators have made it difficult to meet the deadlines initially established.

Failure to extend this deadline could have significant consequences. Without this extension, the regulated market will be at a disadvantage, as legal operators will not have all of their games certified compared to the illegal market, which continues to operate without restrictions and outside of legal requirements. This represents not only a loss of competitiveness for operators that follow the established standards, but also a risk to the consumer, who will be more exposed to unregulated and less secure platforms.”

According to the IBJR, the requested extension will allow regulated operators to advance in the certification process in a more appropriate manner, in line with international best practices. In addition, it will be another contribution to the fight against the illegal market, in search of fair and balanced competition.
