The request was made by ANJL, which represents, among others, Betnacional, the Aposta Ganha and Sorte Online Group, together with the International Gaming Association (Aigaming) and the Brazilian Association of International Game Operators and Providers (Abrajogo).
The request was made to Minister Nísia Trindade (Health), to secretaries Regis Dudena (Prizes and Betting) and Giovanni Rocco Neto (Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sports) and to Sônia Barros, director of the Mental Health Department of the Ministry of Health.
The agreement would have four goals. One of them is to conduct a survey to identify the profile, gaming patterns and behavior of Brazilian gamblers. The intention is to seek information on the percentage of the population that suffers from gambling disorder and the main triggers that end up leading these gamblers to addiction. The survey would have the technical approval of the Ministry of Health.
Another point is the use of artificial intelligence in the General Betting System to monitor the profile and gaming patterns of Brazilians in real time. This would allow the monitoring of suspicious activities and the identification and prevention of problematic patterns, in the assessment of the associations.
The associations also want a protocol of indicators on responsible gaming to be monitored by operators on their platforms. In addition, they suggest the creation of a working group between the associations, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting and the Ministry of Health to develop a standard protocol with the definition of the minimum indicators that should be monitored by Brazilian operators.
The entities also sent a proposal of regulatory guidelines for a problem gambling monitoring system in Brazil.
Among the elements that the associations indicate that the system should contain is the identification of the risk profile of each bettor and the possibility of imposing unilateral restrictions by the operator on the accounts of bettors identified as problematic, such as deposit limits, betting restrictions and bonus suppression.
