“iugu quickly adapted to the regulation and now has a multifunctional area for the 'Bets' sector”

iugu, a company that works with technology in payment systems for the betting sector, has structured an internal cell to fully meet the needs of the segment. In an exclusive interview with GMB, Fellipe Novoa dos Santos, Customer Success Manager, says that as a direct participant in Pix and authorized by the Central Bank, it must follow all the rules to offer secure infrastructure to operators and a great experience to the end user.

GMB – What are the unique features of the services provided by iugu?
Fellipe Novoa dos Santos – iugu, as a direct participant of the Central Bank, offers highly advanced Pix infrastructure. Currently, our system ranks among the fastest in the market in terms of response time. From generating a QR Code to completing a cashout (Pix Out), the entire process takes, on average, less than 300 milliseconds.

Additionally, our ability to scale infrastructure to handle large volumes is automated, catering to high-demand scenarios typical in sectors like gaming or betting. We ensure consistent performance, regardless of market fluctuations or spikes in activity.

A fast response is essential for improving the user experience in iGaming. Is this what you deliver to operators and, ultimately, to bettors?
Absolutely. We view payment systems as more than just service providers; they are business partners in this sector. As you mentioned, user experience is closely tied to seamless payment and withdrawal processes. Bettors expect these transactions to happen swiftly, which enhances the credibility of their betting activities. iugu stands out by offering one of the market's best solutions, supplemented with technological advancements.

For example, we provide tools to ensure regulatory compliance for our betting clients. We verify that the bettor matches the CPF (taxpayer ID) provided and ensure the same person funds the bet. Similarly, when paying out winnings, we confirm that the destination account belongs to the same CPF. This adds an extra layer of security for our betting clients.

Is everything aligned with government requirements?
Exactly. As a direct participant in Pix, authorized by the Central Bank, we maintain all necessary layers of security, compliance, and fraud prevention essential for an institution like ours.

Because any failure could result in losing your Central Bank license?
Precisely. We bear significant responsibility toward the Central Bank and produce numerous reports to transparently demonstrate our processes, not only to our clients but also to the Central Bank.

Was there concern about iugu’s ability to meet regulatory demands when the framework was being established?
We closely monitored the regulatory changes. The market evolved rapidly, particularly following the September 17th ordinance. We adapted quickly, and since October 1st, iugu operates exclusively with companies authorized under the Management System of Betting (Sigap).

What are iugu's plans for 2025, with the market regulated and aiming for further growth in the betting sector?
At iugu, we have a dedicated cell for the betting market, comprising a multidisciplinary team with expertise across legal, compliance, prevention, commercial, and customer success. This structure allows us to closely monitor the betting market and propose improvements.

We’ve outlined product and solution roadmaps tailored to this sector. Our goal is to strengthen partnerships with these companies, offering solutions that enhance customer experience and ensure compliance with regulations. The market is ever-changing, and we aim to deliver solutions that help these companies thrive. We'll continue focusing on serving this critical audience.
