Betfair announces full payment of sports betting and iGaming license to Brazilian government

Betfair, one of the largest bookmakers in the world, made the payment of the R$ 30 million (US$5m) concession fee to the Brazilian government last Friday (29), completing another step in the process of becoming one of the first companies to receive a license to operate in the country in accordance with the new regulations. Licenses for brands that meet the correct requirements are expected to be granted by the end of December.

Among the steps already taken by Betfair are the proof through documents submitted to the Ministry of Finance regarding:

-Technical experience in the sector

-Proof of minimum share capital

-Implementation of robust security systems to prevent fraud, match-fixing and money laundering

-Compliance with the LGPD - General Data Protection Law, ensuring the secure storage, protection and consented use of sensitive data

-Provision of Customer Service and Ombudsman channels, such as electronic and telephone support, in addition to an ombudsman for communication with the government

-Disclosure of responsible gaming practices

-Guarantee of continuous and unrestricted access to systems for auditing and inspection by the Ministry of Finance, among others
