“For nanocosmos, the challenges in markets like Brazil are the various remote locations"

nanocosmos presented its innovative NanoStream Cloud platform at ICE 2024, revolutionizing live streaming within iGaming. For its CEO Oliver Lietz, the advantage of this product is seamless delivery, playback on any device and 24/7 availability around the world. In an exclusive interview with GMB, he highlights the enormous opportunity that the Brazilian market represents and, at the same time, the challenges that come with live broadcasts in remote areas in a country like this.

GMB - What has nanocosmos come to present this year at ICE 2024?
Oliver Lietz
- We are presenting our live streaming platform, NanoStream Cloud, which is a comprehensive platform for the iGaming space. Our customers send us a live stream, we do the delivery around the world, the playback on the browser in any mobile or desktop device, and ensure that it's available 100%, 24/7 all around the globe.

Which challenges do you see in live streaming casinos and sports to Brazil, especially now that after regulation we expect a boom in these areas?
The general challenge for live streaming for the iGaming space is latency. That means the delay between the camera and the viewer, which needs to be very low, a subsecond. And the challenges for markets like Brazil are the different remote locations. So, to reach the different audience, different parts of the country. And also, in whole Latin America as an emerging market for the iGaming space, it's important to have the right outreach and the right infrastructure available in these markets. So, you can industrialize streams anywhere in the world, like in North America or in Europe and play it back in South America, Brazil, and have a seamless user experience.

How is nanocosmos expanding in the Brazilian and Latin American market?
You see more demand from customers coming from these markets and they need the right partners to work with the live streaming space to provide the right infrastructure and the quality of service for these things. So that's why we provide the comprehensive platform to them and, also, additional tools like metric analytics, to gain insight into the quality of service all these applications and to engage their audiences.

Can you explain how the video latency works?
Yes, every part of the workflow when you have a camera, you send the live stream to a cloud system. Every part of the workflow creates latency, resulting in a small delay in the process. Traditionally in broadcasting streaming there's latencies of 10, 20 seconds. That is built in the system and that avoids having interaction. So, for interaction you need to have very low latency and that requires optimized workflow steps in every part of the workflow.

What are the technological trends you can see this year at ICE 2024?
We see more and more demand for interaction audience engagement in all kinds of use cases. It's not just in iGaming, it's also in live betting, user engagement in interacting with fans, among other things. So, there's a lot more demand for enabling these kinds of applications on more devices and more platforms. Another is to provide extra tools to keep things under control, such as audience or game location. So, whereas the user experience is higher or lower, also protect your content against misuse. We see more concern for controlling things, preventing abuse and hijacking of live broadcasts, providing security, encryption and protection against these attacks.
