Caf launches facial recognition solution for identity validation in the online betting sector

With the regulation of iGaming in Brazil, Caf, a leading Brazilian company in digital identity, presents a solution capable of offering a more complete platform to operators. This is the CAF Gambling Identity Verification Solution, a facial recognition technology for validating bettors that ensures compliance with legislation, according to Emma Lindley, general director of the startup.

Facial biometrics is among the main requirements for regulation under Law 14,790, sanctioned by President Lula. This type of technology uses a person's facial features to verify and authenticate their identity.

In the case of Caf, the company leverages advanced counterfeit detection tools, ensuring reliable verification of the user's presence and liveliness during authentication processes and preventing the use of fake images, such as pre-recorded photos or videos.

"In a scenario where sporting integrity is constantly challenged, facial recognition has become a vital tool for player authentication," says José Oliveira, CTO of Caf. "By combining technology and ethics, we tread a safer and fairer path in this new branch of the economy. Facial recognition is not only a technical safeguard but a reminder that transparency should govern fair play."

Additionally, the CAF Gambling Identity Verification Solution brings document verification technology for users not registered in public/private databases. In this process, the company requests a photo of the identity documentation along with the user's selfie. These approaches are combined with other checks to ensure a highly robust process that ensures the player is who they claim to be, is over 18 years old, and is not a money launderer or other type of criminal.

"The Brazilian sports betting market is a great opportunity, and gaming operators won't have much time to prepare for the new regulations. They need to have a safe environment for players to build trust in their brand," explains Emma Lindley, CEO of Caf.

"They will also opt for robust identity verification systems that are already in place and have been tested so that they can start operating quickly, securely, and protected," she adds.

Unified platform for self-exclusion

Caf goes beyond regulatory requirements by offering a unified platform for self-exclusion, allowing users to implement this effective measure across various platforms. This integrated approach reflects the company's commitment to promoting responsible gambling and preventing harmful behaviors.

Other points guaranteed by Caf's solutions include:

Digital identity: Caf offers cutting-edge technology for identity verification, ensuring that users are authenticated securely and reliably. This contributes to fraud prevention and ensures the integrity of the betting environment.

Data protection: With growing concerns about privacy, Caf implements rigorous data protection measures, complying with national and international standards and regulations. This measure reinforces user confidence and ensures adherence to existing laws.

Anti-money laundering: Ensures monitoring of anti-money laundering efforts and continuous compliance checks that cross-reference data with known fraud databases and verify lists of politically exposed persons (PEPs) and sanctions.

Founded in August 2019, Caf offers innovative solutions for user identification and protection in the digital environment. Specializing in identification and facial recognition, the company creates security solutions for banks, fintechs, marketplaces, carriers, e-commerce, cryptocurrency businesses, and sports betting companies, among others.

With offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, London, Toronto, Austin, and Venâncio Aires, Rio Grande do Sul, the startup counts names such as Asaas, Cora, KTO, Localiza, Magalu, and Vivo among its client portfolio.
