The president of Loterj, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, the vice-president, Fabíola Esteves, and the administrative director, Leonardo Bastos, met via videoconference this Thursday (22) with Rodrigo Cigliutti, executive director of Cibelae, and officially formalized the entry of the Rio de Janeiro Lottery into the entity.
At the meeting, they talked about the organization that has been strengthening ties with state lotteries in the Ibero-American region for over 35 years, sharing knowledge and experiences in responsible gaming and preventing money laundering, while maintaining social responsibility. On the occasion, Hazenclecer Cançado presented to the entity part of the actions carried out by Loterj in achieving its base activity.
Cibelae's fundamental objectives are to promote and encourage the carrying out of studies related to state recreational activity, encourage the development of links between the state lotteries of the countries that comprise it and improve agreements and/or cooperation agreements between its members and institutions.
In addition, it advises and promotes legislative policies for regulation and control and encourages the formalization of international agreements between the states to which the member organizations belong.
The president of Loterj will participate, for the first time, in the Board of Directors meeting, on April 18, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the Jornadas Cibelae 2024 event, which this year will have as its theme “Sports Betting in Latin America: approaches to a developing market.”
For Hazenclever, joining the lottery and betting corporation means affirming Loterj's prestige for being part of one of the most prominent organizations in the sector.
“It is a historic day for our municipality, as we are the first state lottery in the country with regularized betting shops and we could not be left out of this important organization that represents the Latin American and Caribbean market.”
“This is a big step towards the exchange of information and technologies, as well as preventive actions against money laundering, combating fraud and gambling and promoting responsible gambling. This is, certainly, another great achievement of our management and the Cláudio Castro government for the regular games and lotteries market in Brazil,” reinforced the president of Loterj.
Cibelae's executive director, Rodrigo Cigliutti, spoke about the integration of Loterj into the corporation and praised the authority's commitment to the highest standards of transparency and responsibility.
“We had a transcendental meeting and soon we will have progress towards the integration of Latin American lotteries. Loterj's membership in Cibelae will not only strengthen ties between participating institutions, but will also contribute to the exchange of knowledge and best practices and resources in the area of state lotteries, benefiting millions of citizens across the region,” said Cigliutti.
The vice-president of Loterj, Fabíola Esteves, highlighted the relevance of the autarchy at Cibelae: “It is important that we are connected with international organizations to also capture trends and carry out strategic and commercial intelligence in partnership with other institutions in the market in order to strengthen the Loterj brand, given that it is a pioneering state lottery in Brazil in several lottery products.”
