Loterj has reopened the Accreditation Notice so that new betting houses and online gaming can operate regularly throughout Rio de Janeiro.

The information was published in the Official Gazette and disclosed by Governor Cláudio Castro to those present at the dinner for executives of the SBC Summit Rio.

According to Castro, Rio de Janeiro is open to the regularization of companies that will find legal certainty here and the opportunity to participate in the progress of the State, which reverses tax revenue into more investments in Loterj's social projects.

Companies interested in operating exclusively online, with online access, passive lotteries, numerical, specific, and sports forecasting lotteries, instant lotteries, and fixed-odds sports betting, as well as the modalities provided for in Law No. 14,790/2023, the sports modalities recognized in Law No. 13,873/2019, may apply for accreditation.

Interested companies will have 30 days to formalize their request, and the president of the agency, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, celebrated this further step.

"Now is the time, as we are reopening this opportunity, which shows that Loterj continues to be at the forefront and is one step ahead in the legalization of this activity, putting Rio de Janeiro in the spotlight of opportunities in Brazil," said Lopes Cançado.

"The Cláudio Castro Government is committed to enabling the implementation and improvement of public policies, and our agency is focused on this because we have competent managers who work daily to change this scenario more and more," added the executive.

In Loterj, the first lottery to accredit sports betting operators in the country, the fixed grant amount is R$ 5 million (US$ 1m), for a period of up to five years of exploration, with a variable grant on the activity of 5% per month of Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR).

Operators must declare that they will not exploit lottery modalities in the State of Rio de Janeiro without the grant from Loterj or the Federal Union.

Loterj's accreditation notice was launched on April 26, 2023, and the betting houses Apostou, Bestbet, Marjosports, and Pixbet are already in operation.
