“Cutting-edge technology and strategic location are fundamental to success in iGaming”

The most recent episode of the Brazilian Lounge Podcast welcomed Marco Pequeno, CEO of iGaming360, to talk about sports betting and casino. The executive highlighted the importance of strategic location for operators entering the Brazilian market and how understanding local culture is crucial to success. He also pointed to technological advances as a cornerstone for the business to have taken off in recent years.

In addition to talking about the iGaming market itself, Marco Pequeno outlined a little of his professional career in large companies until arriving in the gaming industry at Sportingbet. He commented that this experience was fundamental for him to understand the seriousness of the sports betting segment.

That’s when I started to fall in love with the business and be amazed by the iGaming sector, because besides everything I’ve always been crazy about sports”, Marco Pequeno told the podcast.

The CEO of iGaming360 was categorical in stating that he finds “personal satisfaction in working in a serious industry that has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment and even more in formal jobs and tax generation, now with the regulation of the sports betting sector and online games in Brazil”.

Pequeno highlighted the advancement of technology since he started working in the industry, with real-time streaming of matches, for better engagement of bettors, use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sports scouting and data collection for sports betting.

He recalled that there is a lot of discussion about how AI could replace human scouts, but highlights that they are just intelligence tools to improve the user experience, bring seriousness and contribute to the fight against match-fixing and guarantee sporting integrity.

Marco Pequeno also mentioned in the conversation the growth of the casino games vertical in the offerings of sports betting houses and that this is here to stay and to provide even more entertainment options to customers.

In this sense, he recalled the importance of defining good returns for the player and the need for innovation in game creation. “There is a reflection on the importance of localizing the product to meet the demands of the Brazilian market. I say that this is fundamental to the success of the business, in addition to local teams that understand the culture and preferences of Brazilian players, including translating terms into Brazilian Portuguese”.

Marco Pequeno pointed out the creation of strategic partnerships with football clubs, “which has greatly increased society's recognition of betting houses offers, by bringing them closer to Brazilians, who are passionate about football."
