In a demonstration of recognition for the Santos reconstruction project, Blaze, the club's main sponsor, decided to value the current contract with ‘Peixe’ without changing the current term, which ends in April 2025. The contract, worth R$45 million (US$ 9m) for two years, it would be difficult to cancel since Blaze had already advanced more than half of the agreed total.
With the wear and tear that the bookmaker suffered, Santos even considered termination, especially due to the proposal received from Parimatch, which would be willing to pay R$135 million (US$ 27m) to occupy the master space for three years.
Thus, Blaze had the opportunity to present a new proposal to value the contract that runs until April of next year. The values were not revealed, only that the bookmaker will continue as master sponsor.
Santos’ president Marcelo Teixeira, who participated directly in the process, commented that the appreciation of the contract also means great financial support for the work being carried out.
“At this time of rebuilding the life of Santos Futebol Clube, the participation of partners is important. Joining forces is essential to reestablish the status of one of the great protagonists of Brazilian football.”
For him, the appreciation of the contract “means confidence in the ‘Santos Brand’ and its strength in the national and global markets. I am grateful for the commitment of all the club's departments involved."
