In constant evolution, Cartola now adds an extra touch of excitement with the debut of a league model based on round-robin points. In addition to the classic format and knockout, users will compete against each other in a mechanism akin to the Brazilian Championship team matches.
Through an automatic game draw, random duels are created among league participants to determine the season's games. Users who perform better in direct confrontation receive three points in the league's exclusive scoreboard, with the winner being the one with the highest overall score at the end of the tournament.
But the innovations don't stop there: Bolão do Cartola - a newly launched modality active in the Carioca, Paulista, and Mineiro Championships - will also be available in the Brasileirão. This feature allows users to predict match results. Alongside an expanded range of competitions, the fantasy game has revamped its navigation journey, offering users a more intuitive initial panel for a comprehensive view of all game environments.
"Socialization and community building are fundamental pillars on which we want to build the Cartola experience in 2024. Our focus is to promote new formats that allow fans to share their love for football with friends and stimulate healthy competition based on the electrifying Brazilian Championship matches," explains Daniel Martins, head of Cartola.
"The market is officially open for 'cartoleiros' to assemble their teams and enjoy our renewed portfolio for this year's competitions, which promise to be intense," he reinforces.
Cartola PRO
Cartola PRO, the game's subscription-based offering for the season, also brings a host of additional features this year. Apart from enabling users to participate in up to 10 round-robin leagues - seven more than in the general version of Cartola - the premium mode of the fantasy game will feature updates to Gato Mestre, a space offering tips, analysis, and data, now with an exclusive lineup assistant.
Leveraging the performance panel of Brasileirão players, the tool evaluates the lineup, highlighting strengths and weaknesses from the perspective of player value appreciation or scoring.
These and other benefits can be accessed in the PRO Central, a new area for subscribers that gathers all special features in a simple and fast way. This year, PRO has also increased the Liga PRO offering, distributing nearly R$ 500,000 (US$ 100,000) throughout the Brasileirão.
Values are distributed among prizes for the best-performing participants in rounds, as well as monthly and end-of-season draws. The closing prize was one that increased, paying R$ 100,000 (US$ 20,000) to the lucky cartoleiro.
As for Cartola Express, the licensed daily fantasy game of Cartola, it offers various dispute options for those who prefer a quick gaming model and want more chances to earn extra money using their knowledge.
With the market opening scheduled for April, the platform will award R$ 300,000 (US$ 60,000) in prizes in the main room of the first round, with R$ 100,000 (US$ 20,000) for the highest scorer alone. Additionally, fans will receive cashback on registration fees after the weekend games end.
This season, audience engagement will also be converted into special advantages with the launch of the VIP plan. Based on participation frequency, users will be classified into categories that offer benefits such as monthly bonuses, priority in customer service, and access to a WhatsApp group with the country's top cartoleiros.
The game also continues to expand its portfolio with the debut of three more major competitions in 2024: Copa America, Eurocup, and the Olympics. In addition to football, exclusive rooms for the Olympic Games will feature basketball and tennis competitions, with the latter being a previously unseen modality.
"Our focus is to consolidate Cartola Express as the home of the sports and leagues that fantasy lovers most desire and are interested in. While enjoying the Brasileirão, the audience can already prepare to have fun with some of the most relevant championships in the world of sports. Another novelty is that competitions that debuted last year, such as Formula 1, NFL, and NBA, can be played from the start of the seasons. All of this with new bonus dynamics that value the engagement of our player base," says Rafael Sbarai, head of product and operations for Cartola Express.
Launch campaigns
"Tô Dentro" (I'm in) is the motto chosen by Cartola and Cartola Express for the opening campaign of the season, distributed on TV and in the digital universe. Cartola's call invites viewers to imagine what it would be like if cartoleiros' teams existed in real life. The film brings news about the fictitious team that is standing out in the Brasileirão, the Caioba Team, which is coached by former player and commentator Caio Ribeiro.
Getting into the competition spirit, influencer Dan Lessa accepts the challenge of competing for the top of the table with his own team in the game and participates in the season's new dynamics, such as the round-robin league.
Caio Ribeiro also stars in the Cartola Express film, which shows a table of excited friends discovering that sports enthusiasts can have fun while competing for prizes on the platform. Among the attendees is former player Obina, who also says "Tô Dentro" for the daily fantasy game. The video can be watched here.
