GMB - Why is Genius Sports increasingly present at sports betting events in Brazil?
Guilherme Buso - Without a doubt. Genius, as a company, understands this moment in Brazil and the connection that Genius Sports has with sports and bookmakers. We are in the midst of sports, the betting houses. We have the capacity and technology to integrate with sports in data and video collection, to deliver the best content to betting houses. So, it's a very important moment. It's the first major event in Brazil, and the year 2024 began significantly with regulation, and the trend is to continue growing.
How is Genius Sports keeping up with the regulations coming from the Ministry of Finance?
We are always keeping an eye, trying to adapt to what is being said and maintaining connection with our current and future partners so that we are in agreement. I think the market has always sought regulation a lot, and now it's time to do everything right, focusing more and more on integrity.
So much so that today Genius Sports has someone specifically dedicated to this in Brazil! Without a doubt. Tiago Horta's arrival to take care of integrity is also an important milestone so that we have someone focused on this issue. Genius Sports has always had a very strong integrity work in sports with monitoring and educational lectures. Tiago comes to take over this part and the company's growth. We are hiring more people here just to take care of Brazil and, as I said, it's a very relevant and important moment, so we expect to reap many fruits throughout this year and next year.
In other words, are you promising the Brazilian market that Genius Sports will increasingly intensify its activity in the country?
I don't think I need to make a promise. It is already evident that this is happening with our constant presence at events and participation in the market, including through our direct involvement in integrity through the Brazilian Association for the Defense of Integrity in Sport (Abradie). Not to mention our commercial agreements with federations and leagues. So, within Brazil, it is indeed a very massive presence that tends to continue growing.
Does this presence happen in the same way in other countries, or is Brazil something special for Genius Sports today?
No. This is Genius's policy. If you look, you'll see a series of sports leagues that are part of our commercial and integrity portfolio, such as the NFL, Premier League, the International Basketball Federation, and the International Volleyball Federation. These are some of the federations that are partners with Genius in the sports world. Not to mention the major betting house partners we have worldwide. We have brought this more strongly to Brazil in recent years, but it is already a global reality for Genius Sports.
