Identity Day

Caf event on user identification and iGaming onboarding highlights innovation in digital security

Caf held in grand style Identity Day, an event that addresses user identification and onboarding in iGaming, with the presence of more than 1,300 participants, tripling the number of attendees compared to 2023. Among the main topics addressed, in addition to the company's own tools, highlights were digital security, adequacy to regulatory requirements and the importance of respect for the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

Once again, Caf, the Brazilian company leading in digital identity and user protection, held the Identity Day. In its second edition, the event brought together key leaders from the market to explore how "Identity is the Key" to business success in the digital world.

Obviously, with the growth of the iGaming sector in Brazil, the industry was not left out of the discussions, as numerous technical requirements of regulation took center stage in the debates.

With the demand for perfect identification of users in sports betting houses and online gaming, Caf's tools are ready for operators to meet the requirements already indicated in the regulation, which were outlined in Law 14,790, regulating the activity in Brazil.

"The Identity Day represents a milestone in the digital identity market in Brazil," says Caf's CEO, Jason Howard. "We are very happy to bring together such renowned leaders and experts in the industry to exchange valuable experiences and drive collaborations that shape the future of the segment in the country."

Vanita Pandey, Caf's CMO, adds: "The Identity Awards not only celebrate individual achievements in digital identity but also open a door to inspire new ideas. When we honor innovative leaders, we contribute to building a future where digital identity excellence is the market norm, not the exception."

The event was not exclusive to the iGaming world, but many discussions addressed related topics. Among them, the importance of proper user validation, digital security, risk management, onboarding, user experience, suitable payment methods, and the future of identity in the digital realm.

The sports betting sector has been moving significantly to keep pace with regulatory advancements and ways to meet the already outlined requirements and those to come in the Ministry of Finance's ordinances.

During the Caf event, some companies from the sector were present, such as Kaizen, which operates Betano in Brazil; OKTO, a global payment methods company highly focused on issues like user validation, first-line onboarding, and offering fast and secure financial transactions; KTO, H2, and Nuvei.

Leonardo Chaves, OKTO's country manager for Brazil, states that the need to implement effective identity verification and fraud prevention measures is imperative for serious companies in any market. "This need is even more critical for gaming companies, where the constant flow of money in and out requires not only economic and social responsibility but also the minimization of operational costs and reputational damage."

The executive reports that during the Identity Day, he had "the opportunity to contribute and absorb knowledge in an environment where innovation and digital security were the main protagonists. This event stood out not only for its impeccable organization but also for the diversity and prestige of the companies and leaders present, reinforcing the crucial importance of combating fraud in various sectors."

Cássio Filter, KTO's country manager for Brazil, highlights the importance of the Identity Day by stating that "events where various sectors of the economy think together about solutions to common challenges are fundamental. Collaborative thinking greatly accelerates the creation of new business perspectives."

Especially at this moment of sports betting and online gaming regulation, events like the one held by Caf add content to support the decisions of companies that will operate in the formal Brazilian market.

The need to implement effective identity verification and fraud prevention measures is imperative for serious companies in any market, but it fits perfectly at this moment when the government takes the final steps towards regulating sports betting and online gaming in Brazil.

"During the event, I had the honor of participating in a panel focused on the gaming market, alongside colleagues like Rafael Rebelo from H2, Cassio Filter from KTO, Alison Palermo from Nuvei, under the moderation of Vinicius Tsuda from Caf. In this panel, we discussed how regulatory challenges can be transformed into growth opportunities. We talked about user experience, emphasizing that the KYC process and payments are crucial but represent the points of greatest friction in the journey," says Leonardo Chaves.

According to him, "although the new regulation is aimed at gaming companies, payment companies already follow clear and well-established standards by the Central Bank. Our approach at OKTO was to share our experience and established flows to offer not only KYC services but also to ensure the best possible experience both in B2B and B2B2C."

The fight against fraud, according to OKTO's country manager, "is a continuous battle and of collective interest. The exchange of experiences and best practices is undoubtedly the most effective weapon we have. The Identity Day proved to be an essential event to foster this exchange, driving the market towards safer, more efficient, and, above all, user-friendly solutions," he concludes.
