"Secret" event in São Paulo

Neymar held a poker tournament for guests and attended the BSOP

Striker Neymar promoted a 'secret' poker tournament this Tuesday (5), the last day of the first stage of the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) 2024. The event took place in a reserved room at the WTC Sheraton, in São Paulo, only for around 50 guests of the Brazilian national team and Al-Hilal player. The buy-in for the tournament was R$10,000 (US$ 2,000).

Neymar returned to Brazil without making a fuss - there were no posts on his social networks, unlike what he usually does. This Tuesday (5), Al-Hilal beat Al-Ittihad 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League.

The player had been in Saudi Arabia since February 12, when he returned to Al-Hilal to continue treatment for his serious knee injury. Last weekend, he was present at the Bahrain Formula 1 GP.

Neymar played his last game in the Brazilian team's defeat to Uruguay on October 17, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee. He underwent surgery in early November, in Belo Horizonte. The deadline for him to return to playing was at least six months.

Regarding poker, Neymar is an ambassador for PokerStars and plays frequently. At the end of last year, he promoted events at his home in Mangaratiba, hosted stars Yuri Martins and Rafael Moraes and had good results online, such as the US$29,313 (R$144,000) prize for sixth place in the Titans Event.

This Tuesday, while Neymar and his guests played in the reserved space, the main hall of BSOP São Paulo hosted the latest tournaments on the schedule. The first stage of the festival sponsored by PokerStars had started on Wednesday last week.
