“I am immensely grateful to the Buenos Aires Lottery team for welcoming us so well and sharing their experiences and knowledge in regulating and supervising the betting market; and also Valter Delfraro Junior and Georges Didier Flores, from GLI, for this very important meeting that will greatly contribute to the regulation of fixed odds betting in Brazil,” Vicentini commented.
The SPA, created in February this year to regulate sports betting and online casino games in Brazil, has an ambitious agenda ahead. By July of this year, the regulatory framework for online gaming, payment methods, the strategy for responsible gaming, and the prevention of money laundering must have been developed and implemented. These are all areas in which LOTBA is a reference and the meeting also served to share that experience.
The meeting was attended by Jesús Acevedo, President of LOTBA; Simone Vicentini, Deputy Secretary of SPA; Leticia Soeiro, Responsible Gaming Coordinator of SPA; Valter Delfraro Junior, GLI Brazil manager; and Georges Didier Flores, director of GLI LATAM.
Martín García Santillán, General Manager of the Buenos Aires City Lottery, and Sebastián Vivot, Modernization Manager, also joined the meeting.
"The meeting was very positive, and I appreciate the presence of the Brazilian authorities of the regulatory sector. Together, we evaluated how we are going to collaborate through knowledge transfer to achieve their goals," said Avecedo.
“Thank you, Jesús Acevedo and the entire Buenos Aires City Lottery team, for welcoming us. It was a great lesson and inspiration for Simone Vicentini Letícia Soeiro and us!”, stated Delfraro Junior, after the meeting.
It should be noted that the presence of the members of the SPA is due to their participation in the Cibelae 2024 Conference, an event organized by the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries and Betting (Cibelae), which in this new edition has as its theme the “Sports Betting in Latin America: approaches to a developing market.”
Precisely this Friday (19), Vicentini will be part of the “Sports Betting - Regulators (Brazil - Argentina)” round table, together with Agustín Li Gambi (IJAN), president of the Legal Affairs Commission of the Association of State Lotteries of Argentina (ALEA), and moderated by Luca Esposito, general secretary of ULIS and executive director of WLA.
