Maranhão launches Lotema with estimated revenue of US$ 6m and sports betting included

This Monday (22), Governor Carlos Brandão will officially launch the Maranhão State Lottery (Lotema), at 2:30 pm. During the ceremony, the president of Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa), Cassiano Pereira Junior, and the Secretary of State for Public Security (SSP), Maurício Martins, will also be present. Four modalities will be offered: numerical and specific prediction, instant lottery and sports betting.

The Maranhão State Lottery (Lotema) is a public service managed and supervised by the State Government, through Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa), which aims to raise funds with the aim of supporting public policies that will benefit the people of Maranhão, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

In this first moment, Lotema, through concessionary companies, will offer four types of games to the public, namely numerical and specific prediction, instant lottery and sports betting.

The consortiums NGT, World Lottery, SDL and Embralote, this last already working with the Loteria da Paraíba, were accredited to operate in Maranhão.

This is an important activity that will increase the State's revenue, considering that the resources generated to the Government of Maranhão by the activity will be used to finance state social security; public policies for children and youth; preventing and combating disasters and public calamities; education; sports entities; promotion of amateur sport projects; and programs to develop public-private partnerships in Maranhão.

The estimate is that, in the first year of operation, the financial transfer for investments in public policies will exceed R$ 31 million (US$ 6m) and that in the same period, the Lottery will move the gaming chain, generating more than 50 thousand direct jobs and indirect, according to the perspective of concessionary companies accredited for the service.
