Bill N° 143/2024 – amendment to the lottery law, which allows the Executive Branch to provide the lottery service in Sergipe – was approved by the committees and plenary of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sergipe (Alese).
In the text, the caput of article 1 and the text of the eighth paragraph of paragraph 2 are changed, adding sport to the list of public policy modalities benefiting from the initiative, which did not happen initially.
The initiative, from the State Government, seeks ways to expand the types of resources destined to encourage sports as well, given the need to expand investments in the sector.
“The state lottery will allow for increased investment in sports infrastructure, support for training programs and competitions, benefiting athletes of all disciplines and levels. Such investment not only promotes sporting performance, but also contributes to social inclusion, offering opportunities for different segments of society and promoting the integration of vulnerable groups,” explains the text of the project.
The bill also seeks investments in the health and well-being of the population.
“Sports activities play a crucial role in promoting physical and mental health, combating illnesses related to a sedentary lifestyle and improving citizens’ quality of life. This initiative is also essential for the stimulation and development of new sporting talents in the State, creating a favorable environment for the discovery and training of athletes who can represent the State and the country in national and international competitions,” highlighted the Executive Branch, author of the proposition.
The project now goes to the governor for sanction so that the way in which the lottery modalities to be explored in Sergipe can be defined, as well as the business model for the activity. It can be explored directly by the Executive or transferred to the private sector, through concession or permission.
