The values were not disclosed and there are still details to be tied into the contract, but the amount is higher than the previous one. The wholesaler paid around R$50 million (US$ 10m) in the last annual renewal.
Behind the scenes at the CBF, the highest entity in Brazilian football sees the new contract as the biggest in its history in terms of naming rights for the Brazilian Championship.
The contract was signed for three years, that is, from 2024 to 2026, and, according to the report from Máquina do Esporte, it will be worth between R$70 million (US$ 14m) and R$80 million (US$ 16m) annually, which makes it an absolute record in the entire history of the competition.
This movement suggests not only a renewal of image and sponsorship, but also a potential increase in investment and future development of the championship.
Betano already sponsors the Copa do Brasil and Série B of the Brazilian Championship. In addition, the company also has a partnership with Atlético-MG among the Series A teams.
The bookmaker also sponsored Fluminense, but the agreement came to an end this week. The company had a contract with the club for 3 years.
Outside of Brazil, Betano also has space. The company will sponsor important tournaments, such as Copa América and Eurocup. In Europe, in fact, the bookmaker will be the main sponsor of Aston Villa, from England, next season.
Abroad, Betano has the Portuguese Porto and Benfica in its portfolio, as well as Romanian and Greek clubs.
Series A of the 2024 Brazilian Championship starts next weekend, on the 13th, and will last approximately eight months. The last round is scheduled for December 8th.
In addition to demonstrating the strength of the sports betting industry, this partnership could be the prelude to a substantial increase in financial support, which promises to benefit the championship and participating clubs.
