The bookmaker, which signed a three-year contract with the club, will pay R$52 million (US$ 10.3m) per season to Flu.
“We have been doing work over the last five years to recover credibility and sporting performance. We managed to have a wonderful year in 2023, with the greatest achievement in the club's history, and we understood that all this work deserved, with this issue of master sponsorship, a value consistent with what Fluminense has built and recovered over the years,” stated Mário Bittencourt, president of Fluminense.
“We talked to the old sponsor (Betano), and we thanked them for the time they stayed here because they believed in us at a time when we needed it. When Superbet approached us, right after winning the Libertadores, it was important to say this, because here we do it and then talk about it because this brings more credibility to the parameters we do at Fluminense. We are very happy that Superbet approached us and deserved a value consistent with reality. The revenue will be three times greater,” added the agent.
Despite the large figures, Mário guarantees that the work of financial responsibility will continue. He denied that he will do crazy things in the search for new players. “We are only looking at football and signings, but we work with reality here. It would be very easy for me to say that we will take the money that comes in and go out hiring, but we work without fuss, first we work and it will continue to be within the reality of Fluminense.”
“It’s important for people to understand that the club has risen to a sporting and financial level, but the bills keep up. If there is an increase in revenue, the team also has an increase in costs. It's about continuing without doing crazy things. The sponsor comes because he looks and sees that the work is serious, he believes in the work we do, which is for less money than most other clubs. The brand believes in the club's austerity work. Obviously it helps us a lot to bring in other players, but we will continue with our work,” he analyzed.
Superbet's debut in the Fluminense uniform will be against Colo-Colo, today (9), the first clash at Maracanã since the partnership was closed. The new sponsor will be the fourth largest value in Brazilian football along with São Paulo.
“We are very happy with this, it is proof of the investment that Superbet is making in Brazil. I really believe in projects, in 2021 when I arrived here at my old company I saw the project that Mário was doing, and I continue to invest in it. We hope that the next few years will grow exponentially and that we will be able to sign an even bigger contract,” said Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of the company.
