Otto Bonning, Head of Sales

“Brazil represents almost 40% of LatAm eSports market and a great opportunity for DATA.BET”

GMB interviewed Otto Bonning, head of sales at DATA.BET, during recent BiS SiGMA Americas. He shared the perspectives of the eSports sector, the innovations brought by the company, such as Bet Builder and Player Props, and highlighted the opportunities for growth in Brazil. “Naturally, this is a good market for us and we will explore it more and more,” he promised.

GMB - What where your impressions about the BiS SiGMA Americas?
Otto Bonning
– Is my first time at this event, we decided to attend with a small team. First impressions are that we really like it. I think it's a nice event, very similar to the one, actually, in Barcelona. I get the similar vibe, similar feel, a lot of friends, but obviously a lot of new faces as well. So far so good.

What innovations did DATA.BET bring to launch here at BiS SiGMA Americas, such as Datafeed and Player Props?
Going back to the basics, it's still the core business for us, is our full portfolio of betting for eSports. Everything on the markets like Player Props as you mentioned, but also the data, the official data partnerships we have across the globe. And equally important, the risk management tools we have in place. So, it's really a complete portfolio for eSports.

Do you already have partners here in Brazil?
Yes, we have. We have partners through our B2B providers. It's a little early to talk about it, but we're going to be here, think for much longer. It is a very interesting market for us.

And did DATA.BET launch some specific product here at BiS SiGMA?
Not really, but I think our core business is eSports, but it's also important to mention these days that we have the ability to do some classic sports on the side for smaller operators if they need it too. But going back to the core again, our business is eSports. We already have Player Props, and we're developing a better Builder now, which will be available in Q3. It's something we're looking forward to seeing.

Do you see Brazil as a good market to invest in from now on?
Absolutely. According to last numbers I saw, I think the Brazilian market alone stands for about almost 40% of all the eSports played in Latin America. So, naturally this is a good market for us. It is one that we will explore more.

Speaking of eSports, what is DATA.BET launching new now?
The eSports Bet Builder is about to be released, I hope it arrives sooner or later. The last news I've heard from the product team is that it will be early Q3 of this year, so we're really looking forward to that.

We are also improving services, growing as a team. I think it's making sure we have the best data available to be able to serve our partners. We can also educate them about who we are and the quality behind the scenes of the process, the margins, everything that goes into having a very successful eSports product.
