The team is chaired by Romário, who will return to the pitch at the age of 58 to defend the club in the competition. The presence of the former star of the Brazilian national team was essential for the company, which also sponsors São Paulo and Fluminense, to join Rubro.
“When we talk about tradition and football, it would be impossible not to remember these two names: America and Romário. They come from far away. They took root and became a reference,” says a statement released by the betting house.
“Today, they return to their origins and are ready for new challenges. From the first to the last drop of sweat, traditions will be honored, emotions will be experienced and new stories will be written. You can bet!”
America-RJ will make its season debut tomorrow, Saturday 18, in the Campeonato Carioca Série A2, against Gonçalense, at 3pm, at Giulite Coutinho. The Rio team's uniforms for the season have already been launched and are designed by Athleta.
The bookmaker recently closed with Fluminense and was already on the front of São Paulo's shirts and will now have América as third on the list.
