Among respondents aged 16 to 30, 25% have already placed bets; the percentage is 16% for those aged 31 to 50, and only 7% for those aged 51 and older.
There is also a significant difference regarding the gender of the respondents. Among men, 22% said they had placed bets, compared to only 9% of women.
Income variation is not a major differentiator
According to the survey data, financial issues are not a significant barrier for respondents to place online bets. Of those earning up to two minimum wages, 13% have bet; 16% among those earning two to five minimum wages; and 17% among fans earning five minimum wages or more.
Should betting sites sponsor teams?
In recent times, international controversies involving betting sites have impacted fans' opinions on the presence of these companies in sports. In 2023, 66% of respondents said there was no problem with this relationship, a percentage that dropped to 59% in 2024.
Additionally, younger people are the most favorable to betting site sponsorships. Among respondents aged 16 to 30, 67% are in favor; 59% among those aged 31 to 50; and 49% of those aged 51 and older.
Methodology
The "Maior Raio-X do Torcedor" survey interviewed a total of 6,373 people, including 5,023 in-depth interviews with fans from 278 cities and 714 young people aged 7 to 15. The data collection took place between April 27 and May 1, 2024, through face-to-face interviews with structured questionnaires.
The estimated margin of error is 1.4 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95%.
