Chamber Committee debates need of innovation to make lottery network sustainable

The Administration and Public Service Commission of the Chamber of Deputies debates this Wednesday (22) the sustainability of the lottery network in Brazil. The debate was requested by deputy Reimont and takes into account the lag in tariffs and the migration of the public to the digital environment, not accompanied by establishments.

The lottery network linked to Caixa Econômica Federal is made up of more than 13,500 retailers. Given the lack of technological innovation and the advancement of digital media as a lottery sales channel, establishments are increasingly concerned about the sustainability of the business.

Even as a banking correspondent, the lottery network has been losing ground, as only the unbanked population still uses the establishments to pay bills.

Given the precariousness of the situation, deputy Reimont (PT-RJ) proposed the debate to try to find some formula to help the lottery business become sustainable.

"It is necessary to resume discussions and bring satisfactory solutions for the sustainability of the lottery network, which, despite many technological innovations, is still the main channel for banking social inclusion and serving the population, in addition to its main purpose, which is the lottery federal," says the deputy.

The parliamentarian understands that some situations need to be debated and cites the legal uncertainty arising from the precarious nature of the permission contract; the economic and financial imbalance, resulting from the lag in tariffs and the migration of the public to the digital environment; the lack of equality in the marketing of products between physical and digital media; and the need for innovation and repositioning of the segment’s market.

The debate will be held at 4:30 pm, in plenary 15, and can be followed on the Chamber of Deputies channel on YouTube.
