The ordinance established that all bets operating in Brazil from January 1, 2025 without authorization from the SPA and, therefore, in the irregular market, will be subject to penalties. The association highlights that from then on, all bettors will also know how to distinguish serious companies, which operate transparently and legally, from irregular ones.
“This was the most awaited ordinance by players as it regulated a series of important rules related not only to the authorization but also to the operation of each betting house. Among them, for example, the required documentation, the minimum financial requirements that will have to be met and the number of grants for a certain number of brands linked to the same economic group,” highlights the president of ANJL, Plínio Lemos Jorge.
“From the player's point of view, as the regulatory process will be underway for all operators by the end of this year, from next year onwards they will know if they are playing their game on a safe and reliable platform, with the guarantee that you will receive your prize if you get your bets right,” adds the president.
ANJL recalls that there are also other ordinances foreseen in the sector's regulatory process in Brazil, expected to be published by the end of July, according to the regulatory agenda published by the SPA.
